In the Battle of the Buildings energy reduction competition hosted by the US Green Building Council of West Michigan, three U-M buildings won first place in their respective categories in 2019: 

• School of Social Work (24% reduction in energy use)
• Hill Auditorium (15% reduction)
• MSRB3 (34% reduction)
